October 31, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
TONIGHT'S MATCH UP
* *
*Scare The Bugs:* The Tulsa Oilers spend Halloween evening entertaining the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
*Records: *Oilers are 0-2-1 with 1 point in fourth place in the Northeast Division.
Bossier-Shreveport is 4-1-0 for 8 points in first place in the Northeast Division.
*Season Series: *This is the first of eight meetings between these two teams, and first of five at the BOK Center. Only Wichita will visit the BOK Center more times (six) than Bossier-Shreveport. Oklahoma City (the Oilers home opponent last Friday) will also make five appearances.
*Recent Action: *The Oilers surrendered four third period goals last Saturday in their home opener and lost to Oklahoma City 5-1. With only three games played, the Oilers are tied with Rio Grande Valley for the fewest games in the league. Bossier-Shreveport lost last night 3-2 at home against Colorado, the Mudbugs first loss of the season.
*Welcome Back:* Right wing Michel Beausoleil returns to the Oilers line-up tonight after sitting out the home opener serving a one game CHL suspension.
* *
*Welcome Aboard:* Making his Oiler debut tonight is right wing Jozef Budaj. He and Oiler head coach both spent time with the Quad City Mallards in the 2002-03 season. The 6-foot-1, 200 pounder is the older brother of Colorado Avalanche goaltender Peter Budaj. The Oilers waived Jeff McDowall.
*Hodge Hot Start:* Center Brendon Hodge has registered at least a point in each of the first three games. His five points (2G, 3A) leads the team in scoring.
*Cowboy Up: *Chris "Cowboy" Kovalcik scored the Oilers first goal in the BOK Center. It was the Oilers fifth power play goal of the season. They also have one shorthanded goal, and ironically are looking for their first even strength goal of the season.
*Top Crowd:* The Oilers drew a Tulsa record 16,982, for their home opener. It is the second highest crowd in CHL history.
*Postgame Festivities:* Following tonight's game, fans will have the chance to visit with Oiler players and coach Dan Hodge in the One Ok Club (at the top of section 110).
*Next Up: *The Oilers conclude a three game homestand tomorrow night against the Wichita Thunder at 7:35 p.m. Bossier-Shreveport is off until next Friday when they host the Oilers.
