TULSA, OK - Five powerplay goals led the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to an impressive 9-3 victory over the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night at the brand new BOK Center. Four different Mudbugs had two goals and the team also had four players with at least three points.

Bossier-Shreveport was 5 for 7 on the powerplay and a perfect 5-for-5 killing penalties in the contest. Chris Brassard, Neil Clark, Travis Clayton and Tyrel Lucas had two goals apiece as the Bugs took the game over with five tallies in the second period to advance to 5-1 on the season.

The Mudbugs struck first with a powerplay goal from Chris Brassard midway through the first period. Neil Clark made it 2-0 before Tulsa's Bobby Reed cut the lead to 2-1 just over a minute later. Just 40 seconds after that though, Travis Clayton's powerplay goal made it 3-1 Mudbugs after the first period.

Bossier-Shreveport dominated the second period, starting with back-to-back goals from Tyrel Lucas. Clayton then got his second on the powerplay, followed by a pretty breakaway goal from Clark. Kevin Cooper scored on the powerplay to round out the period with an 8-1 Bugs advantage.

Brassard's shorthanded tally made it 9-1 early in the third before the Oilers tallied two late goals from Brendon Hodge and Jason Lawmaster to provide the final tally of 9-3.

Cooper, Clayton, Joe Blaznek (3 assists), and Brassard all recording three points in the contest, although the Mudbugs were actually outshot 28-25.
