Gorillas felled by Sundogs

Amarillo Gorillas News Release
Amarillo, TX 10/31/08 - Perhaps it was fitting that Friday's game took place during a night where people everywhere dress up as ghouls, goblins, and monsters of lore.
For their part, the Gorillas did their best to replicate the characters from the classic story of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
The Gorillas controlled the pace of play in the first period, outshooting the Sundogs 13-10 in the initial frame. With 11:32 elapsed in the period (and Amarillo on a power play), Luke Lynes took the rebound off a Sam Ftorek shot and deposited it behind Arizona netminder Marco Emond to give the Gorillas an early 1-0 lead.
Late in the first, however, Arizona would answer with a power play goal of their own. Cory Stillman scored his second of the season, knotting up the game at one as the teams headed to the locker room for the first intermission.
Arizona came out hungry in the second, dominating the Gorillas early and scoring three goals within 2:01 of playing time to go up by three, 4-1. Mark Kolanos netted two of the goals, and Joel Irving one-all were shots taken from the faceoff circles-past Amarillo starting goalie Pierre-Olivier Girouard.
Amarillo became a different team mid-way through the second, though, as Lynes stole the puck off a defensive-zone faceoff and sped down the ice, wristing the puck by Emond to draw the Gorillas within two. Near the conclusion of the period, Lynes put a shot on Emond that deflected onto the stick of Stuart MacRae. MacRae knocked the puck past a sprawled-out Emond to put the Gorillas back to within just one.
To the chagrin of Gorillas fans, the same team that began the second period for Amarillo seemingly took the ice once again in the third. Two quick goals by Sundogs' sniper Karl Sellan put Arizona up for good, 6-3, as the Gorillas were turned away on each of their 13 third-period shots.
Emond collected the win for Arizona, improving his record to 2-2-0 on the young season. Girouard, between the pipes for the first time in a Gorillas uniform, established his record at 0-1-0. The loss drops Amarillo to 1-2-0 all-time in games played on Halloween night.
