Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings are excited to once again be hosting The Brick Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Global Edmonton, on Saturday, December 10 against the Red Deer Rebels at 7:00 P.M.

On Wednesday, December 7 at 12:00 P.M., the team will be unveiling a unique theme jersey that players will wear for the game at a press conference in the Oilers Hall of Fame room. During the game, the jersey's will be silent auctioned off with all net proceeds benefitting 630 CHED Santas Anonymous.

Over the past 15 years, the Teddy Bear Toss has raised over $165,000 for 630 CHED Santas Anonymous.

"Our organization is thrilled to deliver one of the best events in Edmonton during the holiday season this Saturday with the teddy bear toss," said Oil Kings Director of Business Operations Daniel Troiani. "The opportunity to give back to the local community is a pillar with the Oil Kings and we're proud to once again contribute to this great initiative."

Last season's Teddy Bear Toss was held on Saturday, December 4 against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Oil Kings defenceman Graydon Gotaas, who was making his Oil Kings debut that night, scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal at 13:47 of the first period, sending 12,409 bears reigning down onto the Rogers Place ice surface from the 11,917 fans in attendance. This year, the Oil Kings are looking to raise both those numbers as they look to break the record of 16,491 bears set during the 2019-20 season.

Since the first Teddy Bear Toss on January 20, 2008, Oil Kings fans have donated 133,819 bears to 630 CHED Santas Anonymous through the tradition of throwing their new or gently loved bears onto the ice following the Oil Kings first goal of the game.

"Having great partners in The Brick, 630 CHED Santas Anonymous and Global Edmonton fosters a collective ability to deliver in a time of need," added Troiani. "We encourage all our fans in attendance to bring as many bears as possible, so we can break our record of 16,491 bears."

Rogers Place will be making a special adjustment to its bag policy for the game. Fans who are planning on using a bag to transport their bears, are encouraged to do so in a clear plastic bag. Bags will also be made available inside Rogers Place for those who do not have an appropriate bag.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at oilkings.ca, starting at just $20 per seat.
