Oil Kings Acquire Rights to Conrad Fondrk from Kamloops
December 5, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired the rights to 2007-born forward Conrad Fondrk from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick (via Kamloops) and a conditional 2026 fourth-round draft pick.
Fondrk, a White Bear Lake, Minnesota product, was originally drafted by the Blazers in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft.
"The Oil Kings Organization is excited to add Conrad as a player into our prospect pool," said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. "Conrad is someone we strongly considered with the first overall pick in the 2022 WHL US Priority Draft as he is a player with elite offensive ability and has exceptional hockey IQ.
"We look forward to speaking with the Fondrk family and Advisor Brendhan West, to show them everything we have to offer from a player development standpoint here in Edmonton. We feel Conrad is an elite player that could have an immediate impact in our league as a 16-year-old which makes the WHL a very viable option for him."
This season, he is currently playing with the U15 AAA Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, Rhode Island where he has 61 points (34G, 27A) in 35 games.
He spent last season with Mount St. Charles Academy's U14 AAA team where he amassed 127 points (70G, 57A) in 70 games.
The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is Tuesday, December 6 when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers Rogers Place at 7:00 P.M.
