Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to the visiting Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night at Rogers Place.

The Oil Kings and Raiders played an even opening 20 minutes that saw both clubs register a goal on 10 shots.

Jaxsen Wiebe, who made his return to the Edmonton lineup after missing the first nine games of the season, opened the scoring at the 12:27 mark of the first period after he lasered a wrist shot past Max Hildebrand from the left-wing circle.

The Raiders quickly responded just 2:25 later though as Nolan Allan fired home a point shot through a crowd of bodies in front of Kolby Hay.

In the second period, the Oil Kings outshot the Raiders 10-8 but a shorthanded goal from Landon Kosior 5:32 into the middle stanza would give Prince Albert a 2-1 lead at the second intermission.

In the third period, the Raiders were able to lock things down defensively only yielding seven shots to the Oil Kings and Hildebrand was able to stop each of them to preserve the 2-1 win for the visitors.

Hay finished the night making 24 saves for the Oil Kings, while Hildebrand finished up with 26. The Oil Kings went 0-for-6 on the power play, the Raiders were 0-for-4.

Next up, the Oil Kings continue their six-game homestand Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Saskatoon Blades to Rogers Place at 4:00 P.M. for the first Family Fun Sunday of the season.
