Hitmen Shut Out By Blades

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen returned home after three straight games on the road to host the Saskatoon Blades. After meeting for the first time this season just 5 days ago, Calgary was shut out by the visitors 3-0.

The first 40 minutes of play went scoreless despite multiple power play opportunities for both sides. Calgary successfully killed four Saskatoon penalties while getting multiple quality chances, but were unable to sneak one past visiting netminder Austin Elliott. Calgary entered into the final frame outshooting Saskatoon 25 -18.

The scoreboard was finally cracked with back to back goals from Saskatoon just before the half way mark of the third. Conner Roulette found the back of the net at 8:30 and was followed up 25 seconds later by Brandon Lisowsky. The momentum stayed in favour of Saskatoon, sealing the deal with one from Justin Lies at the end of the period.

With the four Saskatoon power plays killed, Calgary's penalty kill is now tied for fourth in the league at 85.7 %. Brayden Peters earned second star of the game making 29 saves in tonight's contest.

Calgary is back in the 'Dome on Sunday, Oct. 23 to host Prince Albert. The puck drops at 4:00 p.m. for the 'Everyone Belongs™ Hockey Game.' The Hitmen have partnered with the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary dedicating the afternoon to celebrating inclusion and showing support for a diverse Calgary where Everyone Belongs™. It will also be another Sunday Funday presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $2 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for concourse activities from TELUS Spark, and a cast of characters outfitted by the Costume Shoppe.
