Oil Kings Announce Full 2019-20 WHL Schedule

(EDMONTON, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings, in coordination with the Western Hockey League, announced their complete 2019-20 regular season schedule on Tuesday.

The Oil Kings will open the regular season on the road, Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 PM MT when they defend their Central Division title against the Red Deer Rebels.

They welcome fans back to Rogers Place for their 13th Home Opener in modern franchise history when they host the Rebels the following day, Sunday, September 22 at 4:00 PM MT.

The schedule sees the Oil Kings play six home games in November, December, January and February, four home games in October and March, and two in September.

Their busiest month of the regular season will be November when they play a total of 14 games, including a season-high eight on the road.

Notable dates include their first trip to Winnipeg to take on the newly anointed Winnipeg ICE on Friday, October 4. The first visit by the ICE to Rogers Place will be Saturday, February 1.

The Oil Kings will embark on a road trip through the BC Division beginning Tuesday, November 19 when they face the Prince George Cougars. They wrap up the road trip against the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday, November 27.

For the first time since 2017-18 the Oil Kings will welcome back teams from the US Division, beginning with the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday, October 13, followed by the Seattle Thunderbirds (October 26), Tri-City Americans (November 11), Everett Silvertips (January 1) and Spokane Chiefs (March 4).

The Oil Kings play their final home game before the holiday break on the road in Medicine Hat on December 14, and return after the break - also on the road - versus the Red Deer Rebels on December 27.

The regular season comes to an end similar to the way it began; in a home-and-home with the Rebels beginning in Red Deer on March 20, followed by the season finale in Edmonton on March 21.
