Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
ST. PAUL, MINN. - Outfielder Ryan O'Hearn smacked two home runs and the Omaha Storm Chaser scored three runs in the ninth to cap a come-from-behind, 5-2, win over the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday at CHS Field.
O'Hearn's first home run came in the fourth inning against right-hander Kenta Maeda, who was making a rehab start for St. Paul (16-16). Two innings after first baseman Sherman Johnson hit a solo home run against Omaha (22-9) right-hander Eddie Butler, O'Hearn knotted the score with a blast down the right field line.
The Saints retook the lead in the sixth. After loading the bases on three straight singles, St. Paul scratched a run across with a run-scoring double-play groundout.
O'Hearn tied the game again in the eighth inning, swatting a 1-0 pitch from right-hander Jhoan Duran (Loss, 0-2) over the centerfield fence to make it a 2-2 game. O'Hearn finished the game 3-for-5 with two home runs to extend his on-base streak to 10 games. He now has seven home runs in his last eight games.
Right-hander Andrés Sotillet (Win, 2-0) kept the Saints offense off the board, stranding the bases loaded in the seventh before tossing a clean eighth inning.
Outfielder Bubba Starling drew a one-out walk in the ninth to reach base as the potential go-ahead run. After moving to second on a walk by catcher Sebastian Rivero, Starling tried to steal third base. Duran's pickoff throw went toward third, but went past third baseman Daniel Descalso, allowing Starling to reach third base and come in to score the go-ahead run. Next, after shortstop Angelo Castellano walked, outfielder Kyle Isbel bounced a triple over Johnson's head at first and down the right field line to bring in the final two runs of the night.
Right-hander Anthony Swarzak (Save, 3) struck out the side in order to secure the win.
Omaha's 22-9 record is tied for the best in Triple-A East and the Chasers have won 14 of their last 16 games.
The Storm Chasers continue their series with the Saints on Thursday, when left-hander Daniel Lynch (1-1, 3.92) faces right-hander Chandler Shepard (1-1, 3.86). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and coverage begins with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m. on 1180 The Zone.
Following the series at CHS Field, the Storm Chasers return to Werner Park on June 15 for a six-game series against the Louisville Bats (CIN), which includes a Sunday night game on June 20, which is Father's Day.
