
Officers Down 999 Foundation Receives Big Boost from Condors

Guns and Hoses Showdown: The annual Guns and Hoses game, which features local law enforcement officers vs. local firefighters, was held on Saturday, Feb. 7 prior to the Condors home game. The firefighters came away with the 8-1 victory, but the real winner was the "Kern County Officers Down 999 Foundation," which will receive approximately $2,000. The 999 Foundation supports family members of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives or are seriously injured in the line of duty.
"I want to thank all the people who sacrificed their time and put forth the effort to bring this event together," said Kern County firefighter John Nelson. "It was an unbelievable experience, from working with the Condors to raising funds to playing in an exciting game."
Condors Prison-style jerseys auction ends Today: Bidding for the Condors Prison-style Jerseys will end late Monday afternoon. The jerseys were worn in honor of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich during the Condors 3-1 victory over the Wranglers in Las Vegas on Jan. 30. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Foundations for Mercy and Memorial Hospitals and the American Red Cross - Kern Chapter. To bid on this unique piece of Condors history that received national media attention click here. The auctions begin closing around 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.
This Week in Condorstown:
Monday, Feb. 9: The "Voice of the Condors," Kevin Bartl, will appear on "There It Is! The Jake Stevens Show" at 6:40 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1230. Bartl, who joins the show live every Monday, will discuss the Condors winning weekend and the upcoming road trip to Utah. "There It Is!" airs at its new time from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Tuesday, Feb. 10: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will make an appearance at M.A.R.E. at 10 a.m. and will present the therapeutic equestrian riding center with a check for over $600, the amount raised by fundraising with the Condors. M.A.R.E. is located at 18200 Johnson Road. Thursday, Feb. 12: Tune into KUZZ 107.9 at 8 a.m. to hear Condors Captain Jay Langager discuss the team's push for the playoff, Friday's game against Ontario and the always-popular Condors Cap Giveaway on Friday.
Friday, Feb. 13: The Condors welcome the Ontario Reign to The Nest for Condors Cap Giveaway, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Flashco. The first 2,000 fans, 5-and-older, will receive a Condors baseball cap to show off your favorite team and keep your head warm. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.
Mark Your Calendar: The Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon is only 2 weeks away and roster spots are filling up fast. The 41-hour hockey marathon features participants of all ages and skill levels competed throughout two days and nights and includes your own Hockey-Thon jersey, two Condors games and is highlighted with a first-ever Condors Alumni vs. West Coast All-Star Alumni Game. Tickets for the 9th annual Tip-A-Condor are on sale now. The March 10 charity dinner at the Crystal Palace will feature dinner and drinks served by the Condors players, on stage singing and dancing, also by the Condors, as well as live and silent auctions. Proceeds benefit the Kern County Shrine Club. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children (12-and-under), and can be purchased at the Crystal Palace Box Office, Condors Front Office and at all the Condors home games.
Get Tickets: Local product and NFL star David Carr will be the Condors guest motivational speaker following the Condors noon game on Feb. 21. Carr will give a motivational speech on a variety of topics including the role of his faith in his rise to success. Carr will also answer questions following his speech.
Individual game tickets are on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena Box Office, which is open from 10am - 6pm Monday through Friday and 10am - 4pm on Saturday with extended hours on game days.
