Trenton Acquires Defenseman Coutu from Mississippi

TRENTON, NJ (February 9, 2008) -- The ECHL's Trenton Devils today announced that they have acquired defenseman Justin Coutu from the Mississippi Sea Wolves for future considerations. The announcement was made by Trenton Devils General Manager Chris Lamoriello.

The 24-year-old Coutu brings experience to a Devils squad that features 11 rookies. With Mississippi, Coutu dished out seven assists in 36 games, while recording 77 penalty minutes.

The fourth-year pro split time in the ECHL last season with the Augusta Lynx and Johnstown Chiefs, collecting nine points (1g, 8a) in 43 games.

Prior to playing in the ECHL, Coutu skated with the Fort Worth Brahmas of the Central Hockey League and the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League. With Muskegon in 2006-07, the Maple Ridge, BC native tallied a career-high 18 points (8g, 10a) in 45 games.
