BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors took back-to-back wins last weekend, to go 2-1-0 on their three-game homestand. With victories over old rivals Alaska and Idaho, the Condors take a two-game winning streak up to Utah this week for a pair of games against the Grizzlies. The four-game week includes one home game - Friday against the Pacific Division-leading Ontario Reign.

The Condors sit in 4th place in the Pacific Division, at 16-26-6 with 38 points in the standings.

Idaho 4 vs. CONDORS 3

The Condors opened the scoring with three first period tallies - as F Matt Pope, D Jay Langager and LW Mark Derlago gave the home team a 3-0 advantage after one period. But the Steelheads rallied to tie the game in the second frame and scored the game winner with less than six minutes left in the third. Bakersfield fought furiously in the closing minutes but could not get the equalizer, falling 4-3.

Friday, Feb. 6

CONDORS 4 vs. Alaska 2

LW Mark Derlago snapped a 1-1 tie just past the midway point of the second period, and RW Chad Painchaud scored twice to carry the Condors to a 4-2 win over the visiting Aces. G Yutaka Fukufuji made 27 saves for the win, while C Bruce Graham opened the scoring for Bakersfield, who never trailed in the game. The Condors improved to 4-3-0 against the Aces on the season.

Saturday, Feb. 7 CONDORS 4 vs. Idaho 3

C Dave Bonk scored a power play goal with just under seven minutes left in regulation to snap a 3-3 tie and push the Condors to a 4-3 win over Idaho. F Matt Pope, C Bruce Graham and LW Mark Derlago also lit the lamp for the Condors, who held a 3-1 lead over the Steelheads only to see them fight back and tie it up early in the third. G Yutaka Fukufuji made 34 saves to pick up his second straight win.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

The Condors are 2nd in the league in average attendance at 5,774 fans per game.

LW Mark Derlago has recorded a goal in each of the last four games.

RW Chad Painchaud has a point in eight of his last nine games, and hasn't gone back-to-back games without a point since Jan. 3-4. Painchaud is t-8th in the ECHL with 49 points and is 4th with 38 assists.

F Matt Pope is t-5th in the ECHL with 26 goals and is 7th with 50 points. He is just 7 points shy of equaling Mark Derlago's Condors record for points by a rookie, set last season. Pope has tied Todd Griffith for the 2nd highest rookie goal total in Condors history. Newly acquired F Dan LaPointe made his Condors debut Saturday and recorded an assist in the first period.

F Hank Carisio (right) and F Christian Ban made their Condors debuts on Friday night. They were both signed earlier that day.

F Andrew Ianiero is only five points shy of tying Paul Rosebush for 3rd on the Condors All-Time scoring list. He currently has 232 points in his Bakersfield career. Ianiero also played in his 300th Condors game Friday, joining only three others to reach that mark (P. Rosebush, J. Cooke, P. Willett).

D Scotty Balan's next game will be the 200th of his Condors career. Only Glen Mears and Quinn Fair have played in more among defensemen.

D Jay Langager was placed on the 3-IR on Sunday and will be eligible to be activated on Wednesday. RW Liam Huculak was activated from 7-IR on Sunday. C Brett Pilkington was transferred from the 3-IR to the 7-IR on Sunday, and can be activated on Thursday. LW Bobby Bolt remains on the 30-IR and is eligible to be activated.

To Utah, then home Friday The Condors kick off this week's action with a two-game series in Utah against the Grizzlies. All nine games of the Condors-Grizzlies season series come in the next six weeks, starting with Tuesday and Wednesday's games (6:05 p.m. Pacific).

On Friday night the Condors host the Ontario Reign at 7 p.m. That night, the first 2,000 fans 5 and older will get a Condors Cap, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Flashco. Look stylish and keep your head dry in rainy Bakersfield with this popular giveaway item!

The team heads back out on the road Saturday night, with a trip up the Valley against the Stockton Thunder. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
