Iowa Chops News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Iowa Stars continued their road trip with a stop in Manchester, New Hampshire on Wednesday night for game four of their six game road trip. Wednesday night's game saw the Stars use a three-goal outburst in the second period to post a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs.
Forward Loui Eriksson started the scoring off for the Stars when he scored his 20th of the season on a goalmouth scrum in front of Manchester goalie Barry Brust. Twenty-eight seconds into the second period Mathias Tjarnqvist gave the Stars a two-goal lead when he deked Brust for a breakaway goal. Forty seconds later, Junior Lessard spotted the Stars a three-goal lead with his team-leading 21st of the season. Both Eriksson and Petersen picked-up their second points of the game with assists. Newly acquired Alexandre Daigle registered his first of the season to pull Manchester to within two. Signed to an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO) earlier today, rookie Chris Conner closed out the four goal second period, scoring his first professional goal, in his first pro game, on his first career shot.
Right wing David Oliver garnered his second assist of the tilt when he registered a helper on Tjarnqvist's second goal of the game at 3:41 of the third period. Daigle recorded his second of the night just :59 seconds later, but was not enough to mount the comeback.
Iowa Stars goalie Mike Smith stopped 28 shots and evened his record to 17-17 with the win.
Toby Petersen (0/2/2), Junior Lessard (1/1/2), Loui Eriksson (1/1/2), Mathias Tjarnqvist (2/0/2) and David Oliver (0/2/2) all finished with multiple points.
Attendance was 7,118. Power-play chances: IOWA: 0 for 5; MANCHESTER: 1 for 3
