
Iowa Stars sign pair to ATOs

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White confirmed today that the Iowa Stars have signed Forward Chris Conner and Center Aaron Slattengren to Amateur Tryout Contracts (ATO).
Chris Conner joins the Stars having played the last four seasons with Michigan Tech University of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). The Livonia, Michigan native led the Huskies this past season with 29 points, including 17 goals: 38(17/12/29). His four-year career at Michigan Tech reflects 151 games played, with 69 goals and 60 assists: 151(69/60/129). His 69 goals have him 19th overall in school history, while is 15 career shorthanded goals is a Tech record. In 2004-05, the 22 year old was listed by InsideCollegeHockey.com as one of the Top 10 candidates for the 2005 Hobey Baker Award. "Chris was a dynamic college player who skates well", commented Scott White. "He has good skill that should allow him to adjust to the pro game".
The 6-1, 195-pound Slattengren (SLAHT-en-gren) is a native of Duluth, Minnesota. A four-year product of Colorado College, he accumulated 88 points, 43 goals and 45 assists, in 145 games for the Tigers: 145(43/45/88). The 24 year old center served as the team Captain for the Omaha Lancers (USHL) in 2001-02, leading the team with 61 points, including 42 assists: (19/42/61). He was a member of the Lancers Junior A National Championship team in 2000-01.
NEXT GAMES: The Stars continue their road trip with games in Manchester, New Hampshire TONIGHT, Rochester, New York on the 17th and finally wraps up the trip with a Sunday, March 19th game in Toronto. Iowa returns home for three games on Saturday, March 25th against Houston, Sunday the 26th and Tuesday the 28th against San Antonio. Doors open for all games, one-hour before face-off.
