Offense Rises to Morning Alarm in 7-2 Win

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets pounded out 11 hits and capped a 6-1 homestand with a 7-2 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Thursday morning at NYSEG Stadium. Brian Burgamy ripped a two-run homer in a three-hit game to push Binghamton to the series win.

New Hampshire ignited the scoring against Binghamton starter Hansel Robles in the second. Hector Gimenez launched a two-strike pitch over the right-center field wall to put his team up 1-0.

The Fisher Cats threatened to add to their lead in third by loading the bases on two singles and a walk. Robles escaped the frame unscathed with a strikeout and a groundout. The righty settled down after the challenge by retiring 12 of the next 14 batters he faced.

Binghamton was held to just one hit through the first three innings against Aaron Sanchez, but changed their fortunes in the fourth. Burgamy and Kevin Plawecki opened the inning with singles. With Matt Clark at the plate, Sanchez threw a wild pitch that allowed Burgamy to score and pushed Plawecki to second. Clark followed by blistering an RBI double to straight-away center. Three batters later, Travis Taijeron smacked a double down the left-field line, kicking Binghamton's lead to 3-1.

The scoring continued for Binghamton in the bottom of the fifth. Nelfi Zapata singled to start the frame and scored on a double by Darrell Ceciliani. With two outs, Clark singled to plate Ceciliani, extending the lead to four.

The B-Mets added some insurance runs in the seventh. After a leadoff walk to Ceciliani, Sanchez was pulled for Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Burgamy greeted the righty with a two-run homer over the right-field wall, his seventh of the season.

Jack Leathersich took over for Robles in the seventh and retired all four batters he faced. Cody Satterwhite allowed one run in the ninth, but escaped further damage to close out the win.

Robles (3-2) allowed one run over 6-2/3 innings, his longest start of the season, to collect the win. He struck out five and held the Fisher Cats hitless in eight at-bats with runners in scoring position. Sanchez (1-4) allowed six runs on nine hits over six innings in the loss.
