New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The following is a look at what's coming to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium during our next 6-game homestand. The first team to take a trip into Manchester is the Bowie Baysox, the Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The 3-game series against Bowie will be followed by another 3-game series but this time with the Erie Seawolves, the Detroit Tigers affiliate.
OPPONENTS
The Bowie Baysox will face the Fisher Cats for the first time this season. The Baysox were 4-2 over the Fisher Cats last year and are currently sitting in 2nd-place in the Western Division. Bowie is ranked 2nd in the Eastern League in batting average. The two teams will see each other twice this season.
The Erie Seawolves also meet with the Fisher Cats for the first time this season. The Seawolves were 2-4 against NH last year and are currently in 4th place in the Western Division.
BOWIE BAYSOX PROSPECTS
Eduardo Rodriguez LHP- Rodriguez was signed by Baltimore as a non-drafted free agent in 2010 and now, according to MLB.com, is their second-ranked prospect. He throws his fastball in the low 90s with good sink and movement. He pairs it with a hard changeup and a tight slider. So far this year he's 1-2 with a 5.57 ERA and 14 strikeouts after appearing in four games for 21 innings. Michael Ohlman C- Ohlman enters the 2014 season as the No. 4 ranked prospect in the organization, according to MLB.com. Last year he won the Carolina League batting title, but has gotten off to a slow start this season with a .207 average with 2 home runs and 11 RBI. He has a solid arm and is big for a catcher. Christian Walker 1B- Walker is an offense machine, leading the Eastern league in RBI (45), home runs (14), and total bases (118). He's also third in the league for hits (66), slugging percentage (.581), and runs scored (36). He is ranked the No. 13 prospect in the Orioles organization according to MLB.com.
ERIE SEAWOLVES PROSPECTS
Devon Travis 2B- A 13th-round pick in 2012, he finished second in the Minor Leagues with a .351 batting average and and 177 hits in 2013. Although he is off to a slow start this year (.203/1 HR/7 RBI), Travis has proven he simply knows how to put the bat on the ball. Jose Valdez RHP- The No.11 ranked prospect in the organization, Valdez was second in the minors with 33 saves between two Class A stops a year ago. He regularly climbs in the upper 90s with his fastball and occasionally hits triple digits. This season Valdez has 4 saves in 17 games pitched with a 1-0 record and a 3.12 ERA.
