
Offense Comes Alive in Power Victory

(Lexington, KY- August 15, 2014)- The West Virginia Power beat the Lexington Legends 9-2 on Friday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. One night after the Power were limited to one run on two hits, West Virginia's offense scored nine times on 15 hits, three walks and two errors.
Luke Farrell and Dovydas Neverauskas matched zeros over the first two innings before the Power plated the first run. In the top of third inning, Edwin Espinal singled and scored from first on a Reese McGuire triple. West Virginia added a pair of runs in the fourth. Jeff Roy singled home Wyatt Mathisen and Adam Landecker scored of a sac fly.
The Power added three more in the sixth off reliever Ashton Goudeau. Mathisen singled in a pair and Landecker's second double of the game brought in Mathisen for a 6-0 advantage. Frank Schwindel broke up the shutout with a two-run home run off Neverauskas in the bottom of the sixth inning.
West Virginia scored three more late. Michael Fransoso drove a two-run home run to right in the eighth and McGuire scored on a ground out in the ninth to close the scoring.
Neverauskas (6-10) earned the victory while notching his sixth quality start of the season. The right-hander allowed just the two runs on five hits while striking out eight. Farrell (1-12) allowed the first three runs on seven hits and suffered the loss. Eight different Power players had at least one hit and six had multi-hit games.
West Virginia and Lexington meet Saturday at 7:05 pm. Luis Heredia will pitch for the Power against the Legends Pedro Fernandez.
