August 15, 2014 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Hagerstown Suns News Release
HAGERSTOWN MD - The Hagerstown Suns announced today that the team will be playing baseball for the 35th consecutive year in Hagerstown for the 2015 season. With the announcement the team also released its 2015 schedule.
The Suns 2015 season will begin on Thursday April 9 in Hickory. Hagerstown will play its first home game in 2015 the following Thursday, April 16, against Lakewood. It will be the first of 20 meetings between the Northern Division rivals.
Some highlights of the 2015 schedule include the first visit to Municipal Stadium by the Charleston RiverDogs (the affiliate of the New York Yankees) since 2010, and the first regular season meeting with the Savannah Sand Gnats (the affiliate of the New York Mets) since 2004. The Suns and Sand Gnats series will take place in Hagerstown from July 22 - 24, and the Suns and RiverDogs series will take place from August 3 - 5.
The 2015 season will also include four different five-game series for Hagerstown. This is the first time since 2012 that there will be some five-game series in the South Atlantic League. According to League President Eric Krupa, "While the league would prefer to use only three- and four- game series, it is sometimes necessary to utilize a five-game series." The Suns will play a five-game series at Delmarva from June 25-29, at home against the Shorebirds from July 8-12, at home against Kannapolis from August 29 - September 2, and at Lexington from September 3 - 7.
The game at Lexington on September 7 will close out the regular season for the Suns. Game times for both home and road games during the 2015 season will be announced at a later date. To view the entire 2015 schedule you can go to www.hagerstownsuns.com. Magnet schedules with the 2015 schedule will be handed out during the final weekend of the 2014 regular season at Municipal Stadium.
