
15-Hit Attack Sends West Virginia to 9-2 Win over Legends

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The West Virginia Power collected 15 hits on their way to a 9-2 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night. Michael Fransoso homered and drove in three runs for the Power, and Wyatt Mathisen and Adam Landecker each had two hits and two runs batted in.
The Power took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a single by Edwin Espinal and a triple by Reese McGuire, and they added two runs in the fourth. Mathisen led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Landecker. Jeff Roy's single scored Mathisen, and Landecker came home on Fransoso's sacrifice fly.
West Virginia extended its lead to 6-0 with three runs in the fifth inning. With one out, Espinal doubled and moved to third on a single by McGuire. After McGuire moved to second on a wild pitch, Erich Weiss was called out on strikes, but Mathisen singled home two runs and then scored on Landecker's double.
Lexington's Frank Schwindel hit his 20th home run of the season with a man on in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 6-2.
Fransoso's two-run homer in the eighth gave the Power an 8-2 lead, and the final run scored in the ninth on Landecker's RBI ground out.
West Virginia starter Dovydas Neverauskas (6-10) pitched the first six innings and got the win. Legends starter Luke Farrell (1-12) was the losing pitcher.
Each team has won one game in the series, which continues Saturday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
