Burlington Bees News Release

Dusty Odenbach struck out a career-high seven batters as part of his third quality start in his last five outings in a 4-2 Bees loss to the Beloit Snappers on Wednesday night.

Odenbach (L, 5-8) topped his previous career high of six, which he had matched on three occasions this season, with his swinging punchout of Steven Liddle for the second out in the sixth. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with two walks.

He left after allowing two runs in the sixth, and reliever Sam Runion did not fare much better. The Snappers picked up two runs on four hits in the seventh to snap a bullpen scoreless streak of 11 innings.

The Bees won the race to the scoreboard in the fifth inning, when Fernando Cruz's two-out bloop single into right field brought home Gerard Hall from second. Their only other run came home in the seventh. Carlo Testa blasted his team-high 12th triple into right-center, and came home on Jake Kuebler's single one batter later, but the Bees could pull no closer.

The Bees and Snappers take the field for game two on Thursday night at Community Field, where it will be another Mark Warth Agency Thirsty Thursday. Enjoy specials on beer and Pepsi products from the time the gates open at 5:30, with first pitch to follow at 6:30.
