LINCOLN -- After the Saltdogs (48-47) pulled to within a run in the sixth, Wichita (64-31) plated a run in the seventh and six more in the eighth in a 10-2 Wingnuts victory in front of 6,284 fans at Haymarket Park Wednesday afternoon.
James Giulietti (3-0) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking four to pick up the win. Stephen Bougher (3-7) pitched admirably in the loss, allowing three runs in six innings while striking out eight and walking one.
John Rodriguez homered in each of his final two at-bats for Wichita. Jake Kahaulelio also went deep in a 15-hit effort.
Matt Forgatch led the way offensively for the 'Dogs, going 2-for-4 with a RBI.
The clubs are back at it Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. for game three of a four-game series. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
