American Association Game Recap
August 28, 2013 - American Association (AA) News Release
Wichita 10, Lincoln 2
With his 18th and 19th home runs of the season, John Rodriguez powered the Wingnuts to a 10-2 victory over Lincoln. Rodriguez hit a solo homer in the seventh inning, then capped a six-run Wichita eighth inning with a three-run shot. The designated hitter finished 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Lincoln never led in the game, but the Saltdogs made it close in the sixth inning. The Wingnuts led 3-0 when Lincoln scored a pair of runs on a Matt Forgatch single and a sacrifice fly by Bryan Pounds. Not long after that, however, Wichita pulled away. After Rodriguez's homer in the seventh, the Wingnuts exploded in the eighth with RBI singles from Johnny Bowden, David Amberson and Jake Kahaulelio. Rodriguez's second homer all but finished the Saltdogs off. Kahaulelio also hit a home run, while Amberson and Brent Clevlen matched Rodriguez's three hits in the win.
