
NSAA Class a Baseball Championship Tournament Matchups Revealed

OMAHA, Neb. - For the first time since 2005 at Rosenblatt Stadium, the Nebraska State Class A High School Baseball Championship Tournament returns to the Omaha-Metro and today the seeding and matchups have been officially released. All eight qualifying teams will take the field at Werner Park on Saturday, May 11 with a four-game slate scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., the first of the five-day event at the home of the Omaha Storm Chasers.
The opening game on Saturday will feature the top seed of the tournament in Papillion-La Vista South (20-2), who is seeking its third NSAA Class A Baseball Championship in the last four years. Papillion-La Vista South will take on Lincoln Southwest (12-12) at 10:00 a.m.
No. 4 seed Millard South (13-6) is making its 35th State Championship appearance, the most in Nebraska history breaking a tie with Creighton Prep who did not make the 2013 field. Millard South's first round matchup is No. 5 seed Omaha Burke (13-7) in the second game of the day scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
No. 3 seed Omaha Westside (21-5) enters the field with the most regular season wins of any team in the field and faces Omaha North (12-5), who will be making its first Championship appearance since 1964. The two teams will match up in the third game of the day at 4:00 p.m.
The final matchup of the opening round at 7:00 p.m. features No. 2 seed Millard West (18-5) and No. 7 seed Papillion-La Vista (12-9), who qualified by defeating defending champion Creighton Prep in districts.
The NSAA Class A Baseball Championship Tournament is double elimination format, with the Winner's Bracket to be played at Werner Park and the Loser's Bracket to be played at Fricke Field in Papillion. Winners from each of the four matchups on May 11 advance to the second round at Werner Park on Monday, May 13. The winner of the 1-8 and 4-5 matchups will play at 4:00 p.m. and the winner of the 2-7 and 3-6 matchups will play at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets for the NSAA Class-A High School Baseball Championship Tournament are general admission, priced at $7.00 and $5.00 for children 18 and under. General admission tickets can be purchase online at www.omahastormchasers.com or www.ticketreturn.com, over the phone at (402) 738-5100 or in person at the Werner Park Ticket Office. Children tickets at the discounted $5.00 price must be purchased in person at Werner Park, in advance or on any day of the tournament.
The last seven NSAA Class A Baseball Championship Tournaments have been hosted by Haymarket Park and Sherman Field in Lincoln. Papillion-La Vista South, Millard West, Omaha Westside, Millard South and Papillion-La Vista all played regular season games at Werner Park this year.
