Iowa Cubs News Release
Colorado Springs, CO - The Cubs have activated RH Barret Loux from the disabled list and he will start today's game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field. The Cubs' roster is back to a full complement of 25 active players.
Loux is 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA (10ER/15.2IP) in four starts this season. His last start was on April 25 at Omaha. He allowed three runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings and just missed qualifying for the win. The Cubs scored six runs in the top of the first and won the game 9-3, but Loux reached his pitch limit before he could finish the required five innings as he allowed a season-high four walks. The Cubs are 3-1 when Loux starts this year, winning each of his last three outings.
The Cubs acquired Loux from the Texas Rangers in exchange for RH Jake Brigham on November 20, 2012. Brigham was the player the Cubs acquired from the Rangers in exchange for C Geovany Soto last year at the trade deadline, but Brigham landed on the DL after two games in the Cubs' organization, so the teams adjusted the compensation. Loux was 14-1 with a 3.47 ERA in 25 starts for double-A Frisco last year and was the Texas League Pitcher of the Year. Loux hails from Houston, Texas and attended Texas A&M University where he was a teammate with current I-Cub Brooks Raley.
Loux and the Cubs take on the Sky Sox today at 12:05 p.m. Central time. RH Aaron Cook (0-3, 7.40) is scheduled to start for the Sky Sox. The game will be broadcast live on AM 940 and streamed live at iowacubs.com with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 11:45 a.m.
