Dodgers Recall C Federowicz, C Wallach Returns to Isotopes

C Tim Federowicz was recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers today, Wednesday, May 8. In a corresponding move, C Matt Wallach rejoins the Isotopes after being sent to Double-A Chattanooga on April 28.
Federowicz was named PCL Player of the Week for April 29-May 5. In two stints with Albuquerque this season, he hit .531 (26-for-49) and smacked seven home runs, four doubles and a triple in 13 games. Federowicz also collected 20 RBI, vaulting him to third most on the team after playing in just 13 of the Topes' 32 games this year.
The former University of North Carolina catcher made his Major League debut with the Dodgers on September 11, 2011. The 25-year-old catcher enters his third stint of the season with Los Angeles, after making his first Opening Day roster. He has appeared in three Major League games this season, going 0-for-5 with a walk.
Matt Wallach rejoins the Isotopes after two stints and five games with Chattanooga, hitting .125 (2-for-16) with a run scored and a double. The backstop began the season on the Topes Opening Day roster. In seven games with Albuquerque this season, Wallach holds a .273 (6-for-22) batting average with a double, two runs scored and three RBI. He threw out half of potential base stealers (3 out of 6). The Florida native was drafted by the Dodgers in the 22nd round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
Albuquerque takes on the Tucson in game two of a four-game set tonight with an 8:05 p.m. start at Kino Stadium. RHP Matt Palmer toes the rubber against RHP Thad Weber.
