MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Scott Moore's eighth-inning blast extended Sacramento's home run streak to 12 games, but it wasn't enough as Memphis won by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, and his team trailing 5-0, Moore clubbed his third home run of the year to right field, bringing home Stephen Vogt and preventing what would have been the first shutout of the season for Sacramento. Vogt, who doubled earlier in the frame, collected his team's only other extra-base hit in the contest.

Memphis took the lead with a two-run first inning that saw Oscar Taveras deliver an RBI-double, and Greg Garcia draw a bases-loaded, two-out walk. The Redbirds extended their lead to 3-0 an inning later when Taveras collected his second RBI of the game on a run-scoring single. Memphis plated two more in the fifth, before tacking on one final run in the bottom of the eighth when Adron Chambers brought Garcia home on a sacrifice-fly to left.

Bruce Billings (2-2) got the start, giving up five earned in 4.2 innings of work with five hits, four walks and four strikeouts. Mike Ekstrom and James Simmons combined for 3.1 innings, allowing a combined two hits, one earned run and three walks with three strikeouts.

Redbirds starter Maikel Cleto (1-1) picked up his first win of the season with five one-hit innings, walking five and striking out six. Reliever Eric Fornataro was the only Memphis pitcher to allow the River Cats to score, giving up Moore's eighth-inning blast in his 1.1 innings of work.

Moore finished 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, while Vogt went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Jemile Weeks was the only River Cat to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a walk. Only three River Cats hitters-Weeks, Shane Peterson and Andy Parrino-reached base multiple times.

Game three is set for Thursday evening at 5:05 p.m. PT at AutoZone Park when Sacramento lefty Justin Thomas (0-2, 6.00 ERA) starts opposite Memphis southpaw John Gast (3-0, 0.26 ERA). The River Cats then head to Nashville for four games before returning to Raley Field Thursday, May 16, at 7:05 p.m. to kick off an eight-game homestand against Oklahoma City and New Orleans.
