Novak to Return to Rockets Next Season
March 22, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
Kelowna Rockets import forward Pavel Novak will not be joining the team for the abbreviated 2020-21 season.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Rockets were unable to secure a visa for the Czech Republic product.
"Unfortunately I was not allowed into Canada, but I would like to wish my teammates good luck this season," said Novak. "I will watch the games and keep my fingers crossed.
"I can't wait to be back, I would very much like to wear the Kelowna Rockets jersey next season and I firmly believe that I will be back with you fans. I wish you all the best for this year and I look forward to seeing you next season!"
The 19-year-old represented the Czech Republic at the 2020 World Junior Championship in January, posting three (1G, 2A) points in five games. This season, he also appeared in 15 games for Motor Ceske Budejovice of the Czech Extraliga, posting an assist and two penalty minutes.
Last year Novak burst onto the scene with the Rockets, registering 58 points (25G, 33A), 33 penalty minutes and a +10 plus-minus rating over 55 games.
Novak, who was a fifth-round pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2020 NHL Draft, will return to Kelowna in the fall for the 2021-22 season.
