NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals dropped the first of back-to-back games in a 2-1 loss against the Providence Bruins Friday night at Scope Arena.

Halfway through the first period while on the man-advantage, Seth Griffith sent a pass from the left circle to a waiting David Warsofsky in the slot. Warsofsky broke his stick on a one-timer, causing the puck to flutter past Norfolk netminder Ryan Faragher at 8:19. Ben Youds also assisted on the tally to put the Bruins up 1-0.

The visitors didn't score another goal until late in the second period. Ben Sexton passed to Colin Stuart who danced around Norfolk defenseman Colby Robak. One-on-one with Faragher, Stuart crossed the goal mouth and beat Faragher under his blocker to give the Bruins a two-goal lead at 15:58.

Norfolk snapped a 118:43 scoreless streak against Providence with 1:17 left in the game. An empty net behind him, Mark Fistric ripped a shot near the right point that ricocheted off Andrew O'Brien and behind Bruins' goaltender Malcolm Subban. Providence handled a late surge from the Admirals with time running out to earn the 2-1 decision.

Faragher saved 26 of 28 shots and Subban stopped all but one of the 37 shots that he faced. The Admirals were blanked on all three power-play attempts, while the Bruins converted on one of their two opportunities.

The Admirals fall to 22-27-3-3, and are in sole possession of the 14th spot in the Eastern Conference.

Norfolk faces Providence again tomorrow night for the final time at Scope, with puck drop set for 7:15 p.m.

Three Stars:

1) PRO #49 Colin Stuart (1 G)

2) PRO #47 Malcolm Subban (36 saves)

3) NOR #31 Ryan Faragher (26 saves)
