Amerks Sign Forward Justin Mercier to PTO

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Justin Mercier to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

Mercier, 27, has appeared in 46 ECHL games with the Toledo Walleye this season, recording 43 points (22+21) and 45 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Erie, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 239 career AHL games with Lake Erie, Iowa and Bridgeport, collecting 81 points (41+40) and 88 penalty minutes. Mercier has also registered two points (1+1) in nine career NHL games with Colorado. In 89 career ECHL games with Idaho and Toledo, Mercier has collected 73 points (40+33). He spent the 2012-13 season playing in Germany. Mercier was originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
