The Admirals will begin the 2002-03 campaign on the road at Portland (Washington) on October 11 at 7:05 p.m. Norfolk's first home game takes place October 18 against the Hershey Bears (Colorado Avalanche) at 7:30 p.m.
The Admirals face 19 of the other 27 AHL clubs this year, including first time match ups with the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild), Worcester IceCats (St. Louis Blues) and 2001 Calder Cup finalists, Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders). The schedule also features games against the League's newest additions, the Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators) and San Antonio Rampage (Florida Panthers). The defending 2001 Calder Cup Champions, Chicago Wolves (Atlanta Thrashers), make their only regular season appearance at Scope on January 31 at 7:30 p.m.
This season, Norfolk has introduced a 4:00 p.m. faceoff for their Sunday home contests. Two such games are on the schedule, both in March, with the first slated for the ninth against Philadelphia (Philadelphia) and the second on the 23rd versus Cincinnati (Anaheim).
In other news, the Admirals announced a pre-season match up against the Hershey Bears (Colorado Avalanche). The Admirals' season ticket drive continues. In addition to full season ticket packages, 10- and 20-game packages are also available.
