Flames Announce 2002-03 Schedule

Saint John, NB - The Saint John Flames Hockey Club announced today their schedule for the 2002-03 American Hockey League regular season. The Flames 40-game home schedule includes 34 weekend dates comprised of 17 Fridays and 17 Saturdays. The Club's remaining six games fall on Wednesday nights, including a New Year's Day game versus the Portland Pirates.

The Flames open their tenth American Hockey League season at Harbour Station on Friday, October 11th against the Providence Bruins.

"We are extremely pleased with the schedule the AHL has provided us," stated Flames COO & General Manager Stew MacDonald. "Our fans continue to demonstrate that Fridays and Saturdays are their preferred nights for Flames hockey, and we are pleased to deliver a total of 34 of our 40 home games on those days. This season's schedule will no doubt allow us to build on the terrific crowds we enjoyed last season."

The Flames will face-off against Canadian Division rivals on 28 occasions this season with 14 of the contests taking place at Harbour Station. The Flames will host the St. John's Maple Leafs six times and the Manitoba Moose and Hamilton Bulldogs four times each. The Flames will also host the Binghamton Senators, the new affiliate of the National Hockey League's Ottawa Senators, twice during the regular season.

The Flames will play nine consecutive road games on three separate occasions this season with the longest road trip lasting 13 days between March 10 and 23.

The Flames longest home stand of the season will take place between October 11 and November 9 when they will play ten games over the 30 days.

Saint John will close out the 2002-03 regular season on the road at Portland on Sunday, April 6.
