Bears Release 2002-2003 Schedule

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY Bears today released their 2002-2003 regular season schedule. HERSHEY will play 40 home games at GIANT Center and 80 overall regular season contests.

The regular season begins on Saturday, October 12, when the Bears visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 PM. HERSHEY's first-ever game at GIANT Center will occur on Saturday, October 19 against long-time rival Rochester.

The Bears have 20 home dates on Saturdays, 15 Sundays and five Wednesdays. Within the Southern Division, the Bears host six games against the Philadelphia Phantoms and five each against the Wilkes-Barre/Scanton Penguins and Norfolk Admirals. Outside the division, the Bears host Syracuse, Rochester and the expansion Binghamton Senators three times each. Cincinnati, Cleveland, Bridgeport, Albany and Utah come to Chocolatetown twice and the Bears play single home games versus Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Manchester, Portland and the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves. The Bears will be playing their first-ever contests against Chicago, Milwaukee, Utah and the Binghamton Senators.

All Saturday home games begin at 7:00 PM. All Wednesday home games start at 7:30 while Sunday home games begin at 6:00 PM.

Season highlights in the first half of the season include home games on October 19 against Rochester (opening game at GIANT Center), November 2 (first game against Utah), November 9 (first game against Chicago), November 23 (first game against Milwaukee), November 24 (first game against Binghamton Senators) and November 27 against Grand Rapids (Thanksgiving Eve).

The Bears have scheduled two home preseason games at HERSHEYPARK Arena – they host the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, October 5 at 7:00 PM and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday, October 6 at 6:00 PM. All tickets for preseason games will be General Admission and cost $5. Tickets for individual regular season games will go on sale at the HERSHEYPARK Arena Box Office on Monday, September 9.
