
Moose announce 2002-03 regular season schedule

Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), released their 2002-03 regular season schedule today. The Moose will open their second season in the AHL on Friday, October 11 at home versus the Worcester IceCats. The home opener weekend will continue on Saturday, October 12 with a match against the IceCats.
Fans will quickly be exposed to new clubs visiting the Winnipeg Arena beginning at the start of the season as Springfield, Lowell and the new expansion club, San Antonio Rampage all visit before mid-November. The Moose home schedule will be fan-friendly as they play 28 of 40 home games on either Friday (14 dates), Saturday (11 dates) or Sunday (3 dates).
The club will play a balanced home schedule with the months of November, December and January each having eight home dates respectfully. The longest homestand will occur in December when the team is home for the holidays for eight games through December 11 to 31. During the season, the Moose embark on three separate six-game homestands (Nov. 15-30, Jan. 21-29 and Feb. 13-25).
The Moose host the annual New Year's Eve game against the Eastern Conference Champions, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at a special 4 p.m. start on Dec. 31. All Moose home games from Monday to Saturday will start at 7:30 p.m. Sunday games begin at 2:00 p.m.

SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
The Moose schedule includes ten homestands, 10 road trips and 22 back-to-back games. The club will play four three games-in-three nights, play four games-in-five nights on six occasions and a rare five games-in-six nights in mid-October. The Moose will play host mainly on the weekend as 28 out of 40 home dates will occur on the weekend (Friday to Sunday). Friday will be the busiest night for the club as they play 14 home games, Saturday the second busiest at 11 games. The rest of the schedule highlights the Moose at home six times on Tuesday, five on Wednesday, three on Sunday and once on Thursday.
The 80 game schedule will see Manitoba play 11 games in October, 12 in November, 12 in December, 16 in January, 12 in February, 14 in March and 3 in April. November, December and January have the club playing eight dates each at the Winnipeg Arena, the most in a month during the 2002-03 season.
