
Norfolk Admirals Weekly: Admirals Look to Rebound on the Road

NORFOLK, VA -- The Admirals dropped a pair of home games last weekend to the Syracuse Crunch. On Friday, Nikita Kucherov's goal with 2:02 remaining in regulation lifted the Crunch to a tight 2-1 victory. On Saturday.
Syracuse was led by Vladislav Namestnikov's two goals, while Cedric Desjardins made 19 saves en route to a 4-0 shutout of the Admirals at Scope. STANDINGS UPDATE The Admirals (7-4-0-3, 17pts.) currently fourth in the East Division just two points back of first place Syracuse.
Norfolk sits sixth overall in the conference. Four of the Eastern Conference's top six teams hail out of the East Division.
Eight teams in each conference shall qualify for the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. Following the conclusion of each team's 76-game regular season, the three division winners in each conference will be seeded first through third (in order of regular-season points) and the next five best teams (in order of regular-season points) will be seeded fourth through eighth.

- The Admirals have yet to outshoot an opponent this season (14 games).

- The Admirals will enter this week's slate of games with the services of goaltender Viktor Fasth and left wing Matt Beleskey, who were both assigned to Norfolk from Anaheim on a longterm-injury conditioning loan. In addition, Anaheim signed center Dave Steckel to a one-year contract and assigned him to Norfolk, where he was currently playing under an AHL contract...Stefan Warg was also reassigned to Norfolk from Utah (ECHL).
- Norfolk is 18-14-1 all-time against Manchester who is led by Tanner Pearson's seven goals. Goaltender Martin Jones is one of the top goaltenders in AHL, but is expected to be recalled on Wednesday by the Los Angeles Kings, with the recent injury to Jonathan Quick.
- Providence is led by Ryan Spooner's 14 points...Norfolk is 13-12-1 all-time against Providence.
