This Week

Friday, November 15 (7:00) - Adirondack Phantoms at Binghamton Senators

Upcoming

The Phantoms play only one game this week. In the strange scheduling quirk, the Phantoms will not even have a game on Saturday which is fairly unusual for them. The Adirondack Phantoms just had a team-record six-game winning streak ended on Sunday at Bridgeport. Adirondack heads to Binghamton on Friday night in a showdown of two of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. The Senators are 9-4-0 and on a four-game win streak. They are also looking for revenge against the Phantoms. Two of Binghamton's four losses this year have come at the hands of the Phantoms. the Phantoms now stand at 7-5-2.

The Phantoms return home November 22-23 on Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive Weekend with Scoville Jewelers Diamond Dig Night and Youth Jersey Night presented by Glens Falls Hospital.

eBay Jersey Auction

You have a few days left in the team's current eBay jersey auction. The online auction for the unique game-worn preseason jerseys will end this Monday at 6:00 PM. Get bidding!

Penalty Kill Dominance

Adirondack's penalty-kill has turned aside the last 25 consecutive power plays and have improved to 90% overall on the season to take over the #1 spot in the league. The Phantoms penalty-kill is also perfect at home this year at 25-for-25 for 100%. In Friday night's matchup at Binghamton, Adirondack will put their league-leading P.K. up against the AHL's top power play. The Senators are clicking at 29% on the power play to place first out of 30 in the circuit.

Streaking!

The Phantoms strung together a six-game winning streak from October 26 through November 9 to push their way up the division and conference standings. The streak is the longest ever for the Adirondack Phantoms. It is the longest for the Phantoms franchise since March, 2009 when the Philadelphia Phantoms won six straight. Adirondack also put together consecutive shutouts with Cal Heeter turning in the first of his career on Friday at Springfield followed by Yann Danis notching the shutout on Saturday at Albany. Heeter and Danis also combined for over 168 consecutive shutout minutes, believed to be a new team record. Adirondack recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since April 2-4, 2011 when Michael Leighton posted consecutive goose-eggs against Syracuse (3-0) and Rochester (6-0).

November 6 - Tye McGinn (LW) Loaned to Adirondack (by Philadelphia)

November 9 - Kris Newbury (C) Loaned to Adirondack (by Philadelphia)

Last Week

Friday, November 8: Adirondack Phantoms 3 - Springfield Falcons 0

Cal Heeter racked up 26 saves for his first career professional shutout as the Phantoms extended their win-streak to five. Chris VandeVelde (4th), Tye McGinn (3rd) and Matt Mangene (1st) scored for Adirondack who improved to 2-0-1 against the Falcons this year. It was the first shutout for Adirondack in almost exactly a year and was also Heeter's fourth straight victory.

Saturday, November 9: Adirondack Phantoms 2 - Albany Devils 0

Yann Danis picked up where Cal Heeter left off as the veteran goalie recorded his 18th career professional shutout. Rob Bordson and Ben Holmstrom both scored puck-luck goals. Bordson's was off the skate of an Albany defenseman and Holmstrom's tip-in was actually the second touch of a Mark Alt slapshot that had already been deflected by Nick Cousins. But Yann Danis was the story of the day. A spectacular breakaway save on Chris McKelvie in the second period and then an impressive kick-save on a penalty shot with only 4:11 remaining in the game would keep the shutout streak going. And the big stops would also help extend the Adirondack Phantoms' team record winning streak to six.

Sunday, November 10: Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3 - Adirondack Phantoms 2

This time the bounces went against the Phantoms as a road-weary Adirondack team fell at Bridgeport 3-2 after initially leading 2-0. A shot bouncing into the air off Cal Heeter's blocker would inadvertently be deflected into his net for the deciding goal. Marcel Noebels and Chris VandeVelde scored late in the first and early in the second when the Phantoms led 2-0 on the road. But playing their third away game in less than 48 hours cost the Phantoms dearly as did an 0-for-9 performance on the power play. The Adirondack Phantoms team-record shutout streak ended at 168 consecutive minutes. Kenny Reiter of the Sound Tigers finally recorded his first career AHL victory in his 15th game.

Upcoming Opponents

Binghamton Senators (9-4-0) - Affiliation, Ottawa Senators

Binghamton is on a four-game winning streak which included three W's in three days last week. In the middle was a seven-goal outburst against Rochester on Saturday. Stephane Da Costa from France is the AHL Player of the Week with 2-5-7 last week. Mike Hoffman is their leading scorer with 8-8-16. The Phantoms have the top penalty kill in the league at 90% while Binghamton's power play is #1 in the circuit at 29%.

25 Terrific Seasons

Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of only 12 other cities who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979 who won four Calder Cups in their 20-year run at the GFCC. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-2010 and are in their fifth season in the North Country.
