LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled goaltender Martin Jones and forward Tanner Pearson from the Monarchs, and have placed defenseman Matt Greene and forward Kyle Clifford on the injured reserve list, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Jones, 23, has appeared in 13 games for the Monarchs this season, posting a 9-2-2 record with a 2.24 goals-against-average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout. Among AHL goaltenders, he ranks first in wins, ninth in goals-against-average, tied for seventh in save percentage, and tied for third in shutouts.
The 6-foot-4, 187-pound native of North Vancouver, British Columbia is in his fourth season with Monarchs. Coming into this season, Jones had a 68-54-7 career record, with a 2.77 goal-against-average, a .920 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 136 appearances with Manchester. Jones was undrafted and signed with the Kings as a free agent on October 2, 2008. He will wear No. 31.
Pearson, 21, has played in 15 games for the Monarchs this season, recording 11 points (7-411), eight penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating. His seven goals are tied for the club lead (tied for 10th in the AHL), while his plus-minus rating is also tied for the team lead. Pearson will wear No. 70.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario made his NHL debut in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals last season against San Jose, becoming the third player in Kings history to make his NHL debut during the postseason. Among AHL rookies last season, he ranked: tied for seventh in points (47), tied for seventh in goals (19), tied for ninth in assists (28), and tied for eighth in plus-minus (+17).
