
Amerks Top Bulldogs 3-1 in School Day Game

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - Hamilton Bulldogs rookie forward Sven Andrighetto scored for the fourth consecutive game, but the Hamilton Bulldogs (5-6-0-3) dropped their fifth straight match on Wednesday at Copps Coliseum, this time 3-1 to the Rochester Americans (6-3-2-2) before more than 12,000 young fans in Hamilton's annual School Day Game.
Rochester forward Phil Varone opened the scoring at 5:02 of the first period with an unassisted wrist shot.
Andrighetto notched his team-leading seventh goal of the season to tie the game 1-1, with assists going to forwards Mike Blunden and Martin St. Pierre.
After a scoreless second period, Amerks forward Luke Adam scored just 23 seconds into the third period to put his team ahead for good, with assists to forwards Kevin Sundher and Mike Zigomanis.
With Bulldogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski pulled for an extra attacker, Adam potted his second of the night into the empty net to make the score 3-1, with assists credited to forwards Jamie Tardif and Varone.
Tokarski made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss. Matt Hackett made 26 saves on 27 shots for the Americans in the win.
The Bulldogs went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Americans went 1-for-6.
