Abbotsford Heat News Release
Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat announced today that they have formed a partnership with the Kids Up Front Foundation, a charity group focused on sending underprivileged kids to events across Canada. Through this partnership, the Heat and our fans will be donating tickets to provide free of charge access to Heat games for children and their families who have been adversely affected by poverty, abuse, illness, and disability.
Heat fans unable to use their tickets are encouraged to call 1-877-452-HEAT to arrange for their unused tickets to be donated to youth in the Fraser Valley through Kids Up Front. For each ticket donated, fans will be given a charitable tax receipt, along with a thank you card, photo, or story from the children who benefited from their tickets. If you or your business would like to participate, please call 1-877-452-HEAT now.
Kids Up Front focuses their energies on children and youth who have been adversely affected by poverty, abuse, illness and disability. By assisting kids raised under such trying conditions, they alleviate many of the stresses and challenges, and thereby improve the welfare of both children and families throughout their community. Activities range from sporting events, concerts, live theatre, theme parks, movies - a near endless list of fun and enriching kids' stuff!
Founded in 2000 and with representation in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto, the Kids Up Front Foundation have provided over 1,000,000 experiences valued at over $29 million to kids and their guardians. In Vancouver, they have provided more than 260,000 amazing opportunities valued at over $7.4 million since 2004.
The Abbotsford Heat are committed to being a strong community partner for the communities of Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley. To this end, the Abbotsford Heat Foundation have granted more than $100,000 to charitable causes in the Fraser Valley and the Heat have raised an additional $300,000 for local not for profits and minor hockey groups.
The Heat now embark on a seven game road trip before returning home to face off against Utica Comets (AHL affiliate to Vancouver Canucks) on Friday, November 29th and Saturday, November 30th. Friday, November 29th will feature the third Legends of Hockey night of the season, with Canucks legend Kirk McLean appearing for autographs prior to the game on the AESC concourse at 6:00pm.
