LOUISVILLE, KY. - John Nogowski knocked in a career-high five RBI to lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 12-3 win over the Louisville Bats on Friday night.
The Indians (53-58) started off hot in the top of the first inning with a single from Tucupita Marcano and an RBI single from Hunter Owen to put Indy on the board. Nogowski hit a double to left-center field to score Owen and take the early lead 2-0.
In the top of the second frame the Indians added two more runs with an RBI double from Marcano and a RBI single from Jared Oliva to add onto their lead 4-0.
The Bats (48-63) got on the board with one run in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double from Michael De Leon.
After a double from Owen and walks to Nogowski and Davis, Chris Sharpe doubled through the left side to score two runs in the top of the third inning. The Indians added another run in the fourth with an RBI single from Nogowski to extend their lead to 7-1.
Indy collected another insurance run in the sixth inning after a fielding error by the Bats' right fielder allowed Oliva to score on a single from Phillip Evans.
The scoring continued for the Indians when they added four runs in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly from Owen and a three-run home run over the left field wall from Nogowski.
Louisville fought back in the bottom of the ninth with two runs on a home run from Jan Hernandez but the Bats did not come close as the Indians held onto the 12-3 lead.
