Buffalo Bisons News Release

The wins just keep coming for the Herd!

The Bisons won their 12th straight game on Friday night, coming from behind to beat the Mets, 8-5, in front of a boisterous crowd of 5,261 at Sahlen Field. The victory dropped the Herd's magic number to win the Northeast Division to four over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, who also won on Friday night.

The Durham Bulls blew out the Norfolk Tides, 10-1, to maintain their one game lead over the Bisons for the best record in Triple-A East.

The Bisons got the early jump on the Mets Friday night, scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Forrest Wall walked on four pitches and promptly stole second for his 28th steal of the season. Richard Urena then cashed in Wall with a booming double to centerfield.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Herd struck again. Logan Warmoth worked a walk with one out and moved to third when Wall singled to center. Tyler White got the job done for Buffalo, hitting a sacrifice fly to expand the club's lead to two runs.

But the Bisons found themselves down 5-2 after Syracuse scored three in the third and two more in the fifth. But once again Wall got the Bisons offense started with a lead off double in the Herd half of the fifth. Urena then singled, moving Wall to third base and the Bisons brought the tying run to the plate in Gregory Polanco. Polanco delivered for the club, doubling down the right-field line to score Wall. Cullen Large then hit the third Buffalo double of the inning, scoring Urena and Polocano to tie the game at five runs apiece.

After scoring three runs in the fifth, the Bisons came into the bottom of the sixth looking to keep the momentum. Behind 0-and-2 in the count with the bases loaded, Urena was in a tough spot but battled at the plate. The veteran barreled up the ball and hit a sacrifice fly deep to right field, scoring Nash Knight from third. Wall, who moved to third on the sacrifice fly, then scored on a wild pitch, expanding Buffalo's lead over Syracuse to two runs.

Tyler White added the final insurance run for the Bisons, homering in the bottom of the eighth to expand the Buffalo lead to three runs. Notched in a 1-and-1 count, White sat back and launched a towering shot over the left field wall.

The Bisons' bullpen held onto the lead and won their 12th straight game, continuing the franchise record for longest win streak in modern history.

Nick Allgeyer started on the mound for the Bisons, earning his 19th appearance with the club. The southpaw pitched 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. The Bisons' bullpen held the Mets to just one hit and two runs in the final 6.1 innings. Travis Bergen earned the win for the club as the Herd took the lead in the bottom of the 6th.

The Bisons (68-41) and Mets (42-67) will play game five of the series at Sahlen Field on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm. The Herd's starter is yet to be announced.
