West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies announced today that defenseman Nick Tuzzolino has been loaned to the AHL's Portland Pirates.

Tuzzolino leaves Utah as the team's leading scorer among defensemen with seven goals and 18 assists in 45 games. He also leads the Grizzlies with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points on the power-play. Utah acquired the 2005 Islanders draft pick from Wheeling on October 28. He spent his previous two seasons with Alaska.

"You see him play and it's unbelievable that this is his first stint up in the AHL," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "I know he's excited and we have all the faith that he's going to go up and represent the Utah Grizzlies really well. It hurts our team, but that's why we're here and that's to get guys to the American League."

Utah hosts Alaska tonight and Wednesday and Las Vegas Friday and Saturday. Face-off all four nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
