Kalamazoo's Daavettila Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Kalamazoo ‚¬Ë†Wings forward Trent Daavettila is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 7-13.

The 26 year old scored five goals, added two assists and was a +7 as Kalamazoo went 3-1-0 in four games last week.

Daavettila scored a goal in a 4-1 win at Trenton on Thursday then notched his first professional hat trick while also adding an assist in an 8-5 victory against Greenville on ‚¬Ë†Saturday. He ended the week with a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win at Toledo on ‚¬Ë†Sunday.

A native of Howell, Michigan, Daavettlia has 46 points (19g-27a) in 48 games with the K-Wings this season. He also saw action in one AHL game with ‚¬Ë†Grand Rapids.

Last season, Daavettila scored 49 points (19g-30a) in 51 regular-season games with Kalamazoo and added five points (3g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff games. He appeared in 20 games with the K-Wings in the International Hockey League in 2008-09, scoring 18 points (9g-9a). He has played in 16 career AHL games with Grand Rapids and Adirondack scoring three points (1g-2a).

On behalf of Trent Daavettila a case of pucks will be donated to a Kalamazoo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
