New York Red Bulls News Release
The New York Red Bulls (5-7-3, 18 pts) suffered a 3-2 loss to the New England Revolution (11-3-3, 36 points) at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night.
New York opened the scoring in the eighth minute, when defender Kyle Duncan cut inside on his defender and laid a pass off for midfielder Wiki Carmona, who's left footed shot found the back of the net.
New England found the equalizer in the 60th minute, when midfielder Arnor Traustason played the ball down the line for defender DeJuan Jones, who crossed the ball into Gustavo Bou, and Bou lasered a shot into the top corner.
Two minutes later, New York responded when Dru Yearwood drove into space and played a ball into New England's box, and a flick from Caden Clark landed at Fábio's feet, who placed it past Brad Knighton.
The Revolution leveled the score again in the 84th minute, when midfielder Carles Gil served in a set piece from the left-side of the field and found the head of Brandon Bye, who powered it home.
New England found the game-winner in second half stoppage time, when a shot from Gil was blocked by a New York defender and the ball landed at the feet of forward Adam Buksa, who placed the ball in the back of the net to give the Revolution the lead.
Carmona scored his first career MLS goal in his ninth appearance.
Duncan tallied his first assist of the season and the eighth of his career.
Fábio scored his third goal of the season and his second at Red Bull Arena. In his last six home matches, he has recorded two goals and four assists.
Clark has recorded a goal or an assist in his last six matches at Red Bull Arena.
Midfielder Florian Valot made his first appearance since April 25 against the LA Galaxy, after suffering a knee injury.
Following Saturday's match, New York battles FC Cincinnati on Wednesday, August 4 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on MSG and MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
