
New England Revolution Protect Players Ahead of 2018 MLS Expansion Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have protected 11 players from selection by FC Cincinnati in the 2018 MLS Expansion Draft, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 2:00 p.m. ET. In addition, three of the Revolution's Homegrown Players are automatically exempt from the draft, leaving 14 Revolution players ineligible for selection in Tuesday's draft.
The Revolution's 11 protected players are forward Juan Agudelo, forward Teal Bunbury, defender Brandon Bye, midfielder Luis Caicedo (international), defender Antonio Delamea, midfielder Diego Fagundez, defender Andrew Farrell, defender Michael Mancienne (international), forward Cristian Penilla (international), midfielder Kelyn Rowe, and goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Midfielders Isaac Angking, Scott Caldwell, and Zachary Herivaux are automatically protected as Homegrown Players who finished the 2018 season on the club's supplemental/reserve roster. Per MLS rules, New England was required to protect a minimum of three international players.

Tuesday's MLS Expansion Draft, which will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com, will consist of five total picks by FC Cincinnati as the club builds its roster ahead of its inaugural MLS campaign in 2019. Each current MLS club may not lose more than one player in the draft. In addition, the five teams that had players selected by Los Angeles Football Club during the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft are exempt from the 2018 MLS Expansion Draft. Following the MLS Expansion Draft, the next phases of the offseason calendar include the MLS Waiver Draft on Dec. 12 and the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Dec. 14 (Stage 1) and Dec. 20 (Stage 2). The 2019 MLS SuperDraft will take place in Chicago, Ill. on Friday, Jan. 11.
