SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced that it has received $50,000 in General Allocation Money from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for the MLS rights to midfielder Andy Rose. Rose spent four seasons with Seattle from 2012-2015 before spending the last three years in the United Kingdom, most recently with Scottish Premiership side Motherwell FC.
Rose recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in 106 appearances for Sounders FC across all competitions from 2012-2015 (Jane Gershovich / Seattle Sounders FC).
"Andy is a first-class individual that was a valued member of our organization during his time in Seattle," said Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey. "We're happy he is back in MLS and wish him the best of luck in Vancouver."
Rose, 28, recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions for Seattle, including five all-competition tallies in the club's 2014 Supporters' Shield and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup-winning campaign. He returns to MLS following three-plus seasons in the United Kingdom, where he most recently scored two goals in 54 appearances for Scottish side Motherwell across all competitions in 2017-2018. During his season and a half with English Football League One club Coventry City FC, the English midfielder scored five goals in 40 appearances, helping the Sky Blues lift the 2016-2017 English Football League Trophy.
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Rose also lived in Bristol, England and Chicago, Illinois during his childhood, playing collegiately at UCLA from 2008-2011, where he was a two-time All-Pac-10 First Team selection.
