From the Notes

Seth Maness: 30-year-old Seth Maness starts for the Sounds tonight. The right-hander is 4-2 with a 4.94 ERA in 11 starts with Nashville. He was recently named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team. Maness has tossed 62.0 innings and has allowed 79 hits and 6 walks to go along with 35 strikeouts. He was roughed up in his last outing and allowed a career-high 11 runs (10 earned) in 4.0 innings of work at AutoZone Park against the Redbirds. Maness joined the Sounds on May 2 after the Rangers purchased his contract from the Independent League High Point Rockers. The veteran has pitched in the big leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals (2013-16) and the Kansas City Royals (2017). In 252 Major League games, the North Carolina native is 18-10 with a 3.21 ERA. Maness is 24-12 with a 3.62 ERA in 91 games (50 starts) in his minor league career. The St. Louis Cardinals drafted him in the 11th round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of East Carolina University.

Heineman Hitting Safely: Scott Heineman, whose streak started in his first rehab assignment with Nashville, has hit safely in his last 10 games with Nashville. During the streak he is hitting .415 (17-for-41) with 9 runs, 2 double, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 8 RBI.

Punch 'Em Out: Led by starter Joe Palumbo, Nashville pitchers matched a single-game high with 14 strikeouts last night. The team's other 14-strikeout games are May 24 vs. Memphis and April 4 vs. Iowa.

Count All 10: Starter Joe Palumbo matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts in last night's outing. It was the first time this year a Sounds pitcher has racked up at least 10 strikeouts in a game. The last Nashville starter to record at least 10 strikeouts in a single game was Eric Jokisch (11) on June 15, 2018 at El Paso. Palumbo is the 69th Nashville pitcher to record 10+ strikeouts in the PCL era (1998-present).
