Wheeling Nailers News Release

Playoff fever is heating up in Wheeling as this down-to-the-wire North Division race in the ECHL has people in the region excited for the post-season possibilities. Fans are filing into WesBanco Arena with back to back months averaging 3,000+ fans per game. And the Wheeling Nailers awesome website had another record with 1.25 million individual hits...and that was all in just one week!! It's an exciting time to be a hockey fan in the Ohio Valley and Nailers supporters will be anxious to see if their team can come through with some tough and important road victories this weekend at Elmira.

The Wheeling Nailers hit the road for three big games with Kelly Cup playoff implications. The Nailers and Elmira Jackals square off this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at First Arena in Elmira, NY. The Friday and Saturday games commence at 7:35 with the series finale on Sunday slated for 4:05.

The Nailers are in a tie for 4th place in the exciting ECHL North Divisional race but are only three points back of the first place Cincinnati Cyclones. They are just one point behind their upcoming opponents but also have one game in hand on the Jackals. The standings are somewhat deceiving at this moment because Wheeling has games in hand on most of the divisional rivals they are jockeying for position against. The Nailers have 6 games left in the regular season while Cincinnati has only 4 and Elmira and Trenton have 5 each. The top 4 finishers advance to the Kelly Cup playoffs. This is the second to last weekend of the regular season. The playoff race in the North seems destined to go down to the very last game.
