
Cyclones Sign Defenseman Kirk Medernach

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have signed defenseman Kirk Medernach . The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Medernach, 24, spent the 2008-09 season at Mercyhurst College, playing in 29 games and picking up a goal with ten assists for eleven points and accumulated 46 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-four, 225 pounder from Cudworth, SASK appeared in 128 games for Mercyhurst and had four goals and 25 assists for 29 points and 272 penalty minutes. During 2007-08, Kirk led the team in plus/minus at +14.
Medernach practiced with the Cyclones club this morning and could be in uniform for tonight's game against Trenton. That game will be carried on the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com. Tickets will be available at the door.
