Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV â The Wheeling Nailers announce today that they have signed forward Chris Mackenzie. As per club policy the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
MacKenzie, 34, is 6'1" 210 pound center starting his 12th professional season, he started his career playing in the ECHL in 1992 for the Hampton-Roads Admirals, and has since played in several different leagues, having his best years in the Central League for the Indianapolis Ice.
In two seasons with the Ice MacKenzie scored 250 points in 131 games, earning the MVP of the league in 1999-2000.
"Our team this season has been missing that pure goal scorer and veteran leadership, Chris brings both of these qualities to our team. He has been playing pro for 12 years and has put up some pretty good numbers, we hope he can bring that scoring touch and leadership to our squad," was Head Coach Pat Bingham's response to signing MacKenzie.
The Nailers will play tonight in Atlantic City against the first place Bullies. The Nailers return home on Wednesday against Dayton, that game will feature Kraft Mac & Cheese Night, fans can bring a box in for two dollars off their ticket price. Don't miss your chance to see the Nailers build on last year's historic season. For more information call the Nailers office at 1-877-NAIL-TIX or (304)234-GOAL.
