Royals Defenseman Called up to Manchester

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that defenseman Adam Borzecki has been called up to Manchester. The Monarchs called up the ECHL-contracted defenseman do to an injury to ex-Royals defenseman Doug Nolan. This is the first call-up of the season Borzecki.

Borzecki, 26, has appeared in all ten games with the Royals this season. The Gdansk, Poland native is scoreless, but leads the club in +/- rating with a plus-8. The stay-at-home defenseman is in his sixth professional season. He has appeared in 312 professional games in the ECHL, WCHL, UHL, IHL and AHL. He has posted 13 goals and 65 assists for 78 points, plus accumulated 521 penalty minutes. Borzecki began his professional career in the ECHL under current Royals coach Derek Clancey in 1999 with the Jackson Bandits.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

Tonight Reading tangles with South Carolina, Captial Blue Cross is handing out Royals ice scrapers to the first 2,000 fans in attendance. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center.
